Week #5: Playing is FUN! (Things #10 & 11)

Not only did I explore and join a Ning network for Librarians (thank you Joyce Valenza) and the LinkedIn Network, I had fun adding captions to photos and playing with adding widgets to my facebook!
Such fun!
Check out this TravelerIQ widget and see if you can beat me!
OK- I am having trouble bringing the widget in - says it is broken.
I enjoyed playing it though, so it is worth a mention...

Here is the photo I added a caption to... Such good memories!

Week #4: RSS : Send me the latest! (Things#8&9)

I have had an idea about these, but this course allowed me to sit and learn about them. I especially liked the video at Blip tv that explained what RSS feeds are. I can see using this to find the latest children's books for the library- with so many classes, I never have enough time to read all of the reviews, so now the reviews come to me.
One cool thing I found on the School Library Media Monthly feed was the youtube video of the presidents morphing from one to another. If you get a minute, check it out!

I love it! (Week 3)(Things #5,6,7)

Flickr is so cool!
Another neat tool is bubblr, where the kids could pick a picture (perhaps of the new president?) and add what they think he would be saying or thinking. Like the library books below! I can see how I can use this at any age level above grade three.
Also, check out these photos from a visit to our library from author and poet Dave Crawley:

Week 2: Things #3 and #4

The avatar was the most challenging part of this assignment! It was like going shopping, and shopping takes time! So many choices!
I have been thinking of how elementary students might use a blog, and when I might find the class time to teach them how to do it. My schedule is fixed now, so it might not be an easy task.
Suggestions?

Week 1: Things #1 and #2

Successful lifelong learners...
I think my favorites are
#4: Have confidence in myself as a competent effective learner. This is a challenge for me as our media changes so quickly!
#7 1/2: Playing with the new stuff helps with #4 and it is fun!
I love my job!

I'm back!

OK- Holidays over, parent's 50th anniversary project over, and here we go!
